Configuring the Metric Categories Widget

The Metric Categories widget lets you define categories of metricsClosed A measurement or data point that is monitored and analyzed to detect anomalies and generate incidents. that users can choose from. When a category is selected, the metrics in that category are sent to other widgets you have configured to receive metric interactions. Use this widget to guide users to a fixed set of metric choices.

Opening the Metric Categories widget configuration

Enter edit mode on the workspace, open the widget menu (ellipsis on the widget header), and click Configure. The Metric Categories configuration dialog opens.

Widget name

Set a name for the widget. The name appears in the widget header. Use a short label that describes the purpose (for example, Metric set).

Categories

Define one or more categories. Each category has:

  • Label: The text shown to users when they choose a category (for example, Throughput or Latency).

  • ID: An identifier used when the selection is sent to other widgets. It should be unique among categories.

  • Metrics: The list of metrics that belong to this category. When the user selects this category, these metrics are sent to widgets configured to accept metric interactions. Add or remove metrics as needed for each category.

You can add multiple categories and reorder them. Users see the category labels and choose one. The corresponding metrics then drive the connected widgets.

Layout direction

Choose whether category options are laid out horizontally or vertically in the widget. Horizontal layout shows options in a row. Vertical layout stacks them in a column. Use the layout that fits your workspace best.
