User Role Definitions

When you invite a user account to access Riverbed IQ Ops, assign built-in roles according to the access that user needs. For Role-Based Access Control (RBACClosed Role-Based Access Control) across the product, how roles affect the UI, and how multiple roles combine on one account, see Role-Based Access Control. To assign roles, see User Management.

The authoritative list of every built-in role, its description, and its Area value is in Riverbed Console Built-in Roles. That reference also includes feature-by-role tables for PCM, Workspaces, data forensics, metadata, Gen AI, and analytics. Use it when you need role names, scope, or a capability checklist for a specific product area.

The table below maps major UI areas to the built-in role Area values that govern them. It is a navigation aid only. It does not replace the full role catalog or the feature-by-role tables in Built-in Roles.
