Building and Managing Workspaces in the Workspaces Library
Use the Workspaces Library to create new workspaces from scratch, duplicate and customize built-in workspaces, add and arrange widgets, and save workspaces for later. This topic describes how to create a workspace, add widgets, and save or reopen your work. For an overview of what the Library is and when to use it, see Understanding Data Forensics and the Workspaces Library.
Creating a new workspace from scratch
To build a custom workspace from scratch:
-
Navigate to the Workspaces Library Page:
-
Click the Launchpad button ⁝⁝⁝.
-
Click Workspaces > Library.
-
-
Click Create New Workspace.
An empty canvas with layout zones appears. Use Add Widgets to add widgets and configure them as needed.
Creating a new workspace from a built-in workspace
You can duplicate a built-in workspace and then customize the copy:
-
Navigate to the Workspaces Library Page:
-
Click the Launchpad button ⁝⁝⁝.
-
Click Workspaces > Library.
-
-
Open a built-in workspace (for example, Impact Summary).
-
Click Edit Workspace.
-
Click the Save icon. Enter a name and optional description for the workspace. The workspace is saved as your own copy and you can edit it from here.
Adding and arranging widgets
Widgets are modular blocks that display data or controls. The Library supports multiple widget types, including time series charts, tables, key performance indicators (KPIs), bar and pie charts, runbooks, text, and others. For a full list and what each widget does, see List of Widgets. For the concept of widgets in Workspaces, see Widgets in Workspaces.
To add a widget:
-
Click Add Widgets to open the widget picker.
-
Choose a widget type from the picker.
-
Configure the widget if prompted (e.g. data source, filters, visualization options).
-
Drag the widget to position it on the canvas. Resize as needed.
You can resize, duplicate, or remove widgets at any time from the widget menu (ellipsis on the widget header). For configuration details, see Configuring a Widget and Editing Workspaces and Configuring Interactions in Library.
Saving, reopening, and sharing
To save a workspace:
-
When the workspace is configured, click the Save icon.
-
Enter a name and optional description.
-
Click Save.
Saved workspaces appear under All Workspaces in the Library. To edit a workspace later, open it and click Edit Workspace.
Sharing options are limited. Read-only links and role-based sharing are not currently supported.
