Setting Up Widget Interactions

Workspaces supports context-aware interactions. Selecting a value in one widget can dynamically filter other widgets in the Insight For more information, see [Workspaces Connecting Interactions]

Types of Interactions

  • Time Range Selection: Drag across a time series chart to select a time window. All widgets that share this context update automatically.
  • Table-Driven Filtering: Click a row in a table widget to filter all downstream widgets.
  • Drilldowns: Use the Drilldown option to select a group-by dimension and display filtered results in a new table.
  • Composition and Correlation Widgets: These adjust automatically based on selections from the parent table.

Example Interaction Flow

Here is a common example of how widgets can interact:

  1. Top Applications Table: Displays NPM+ application data.
  2. Time Series for Selected App: Automatically filters based on table selection.
  3. Top Clients/Servers: Drilldown from selected app to related entities.
  4. Response Time Composition: Shows breakdown for the selected client or server.

  2. Verify that filters and interactions work as expected.
