Packet Capture Module Initial Deployment

Deploy Unified Agent, NPM+ Core, and PCM on one device to validate the settings you configured in the initial setup stage.

To complete the initial deployment:

  1. If you are new to Unified Agent, start with Getting started with Unified Agent.

  2. Review the system requirements and latest release news for each of the needed components before you start module deployment:

  3. Confirm PCM module deployment prerequisites.

    1. As noted in the release news, PCM has two prerequisites:

      1. Unified Agent version must be 25.12.0.154 or higher.

        NPM+ Core must meet the minimum version noted in the NPM+ Core release news for your endpoint platform.

    2. While NPM+ UC module is not a prerequisite, Riverbed recommends you install it as well. It is included as part of your NPM+ Core entitlement.

  4. Deploy Unified Agent, NPM+ Core, and PCM on one device to validate the PCM settings you configured in the earlier steps.

    1. Open a new browser window and log in to your Aternity tenant.

    2. If not already installed, install Unified Agent 25.12.0.154 or higher.

    3. If not already deployed, deploy NPM+ Core at the required version for your endpoint platform via the UA Manager.

    4. Then deploy the latest GA (general availability) release of NPM+ Packet Capture Module via the UA Manager.

    5. Most customers already have Unified Agent and NPM+ Core deployed across their estate. Ensure you have the required versions.

  5. Now that you have deployed a module, exercise and validate the PCM functionality in the next stage.
