In addition, the Explorer enables you to define and manage custom properties for entities; these are user-defined entity properties that you can use to describe and identify specific entities of interest in your network. Each entity type, plus custom properties, has its own page under the Explorer menu:

For each entity, the Explorer shows the properties that describe it; these properties vary, according to the entity type, but they include details such as name, IP address, model, inbound speed, and location, among others.

Note: One entity type can be a property of another: A location can be a property of a device and a device can be a property of an interface, to give two examples. For each entity listed on the page, you can click it to view all its properties at once in the Details blade.

Every property name can be used as a column name on an Explorer page. In addition, every property name and value on an Explorer page can be:

  • Used as a filter.

  • Used as a search string.

  • Shown in the Details blade.

Details Blade

The Details blade appears at the right side of the Explorer page when you click on a listed entity, showing all of that entity's properties at a glance.

  • The Details blade for devices has a second tab listing corresponding interfaces.

  • The Details blade for interfaces has a second tab listing corresponding devices.

  • The Details blade for locations has a second tab listing corresponding devices.

In addition, the Details blade provides the Set Custom Property button. Clicking this button opens the Set Custom Property dialog for working with custom properties and values.
