Selecting and Switching Workflows

In Workspaces, a workflow is a saved layout of widgets and panels (for example, a Data Forensics investigation or a workspace from the Workspaces Library). You can switch between workflows to work on different analyses without losing your place.

Where workflows appear

When you open Workspaces from the left-hand menu, you may see a list of workflows on the left. This list can include:

  • Preconfigured workflows: Built-in workflows provided by Riverbed for common use cases (for example, Tunnel Usage by Application, Performance by Location).

  • Saved workspaces: Workspaces you have created or customized and saved from the Workspaces Library.

  • Pinned or default workflows: Workflows you or your administrator have set as favorites or as the default view.

Which workflows appear depends on your environment and permissions. For more on the two main ways to use Workspaces, see Understanding Data Forensics and the Workspaces Library.

Selecting a workflow

To open a workflow:

  1. In the workflow list (left side), locate the workflow you want.

  2. Either drag the workflow from the list and drop it onto the canvas, or double-click the workflow name.

  3. The workspace loads that workflow. Widgets and panels display according to the workflow configuration.

If you have unsaved changes in the current workflow, you may be prompted to save or discard them before switching.

Switching to another workflow

To switch to a different workflow, select another workflow from the list using the same steps as above. The current view is replaced by the selected workflow. You can return to a previous workflow by selecting it again from the list.
