Configuring the Metadata Search Widget

The Metadata Search widget lets users search for applications, locations, devices, interfaces, or user devices in metadata. Search results can be sent to other workspace widgets that accept the corresponding interaction type. Configuration controls what kind of metadata is searched and whether tag filtering is shown.

Opening the Metadata Search widget configuration

Enter edit mode on the workspace, open the widget menu (ellipsis on the widget header), and click Configure. The Metadata Search configuration dialog opens.

Widget name

Set a name for the widget. The name appears in the widget header. Use a label that indicates what users are searching (for example, Application search or Location search).

Search type

Choose the type of metadata users will search. The options depend on your environment and feature flags. Typical options include:

  • Applications: Search for applications by name or other attributes.

  • Locations: Search for locations.

  • Client/server locations: Search for client or server locations.

  • Devices: Search for devices.

  • Interfaces: Search for interfaces.

  • User devices: Search for user devices. This option may be available only when the feature is enabled.

Select the search type that matches how you want users to filter other widgets (for example, application search to drive widgets that accept application or group interactions).

Hide tags filtering

When this option is enabled, the tag filtering control is hidden in the Metadata Search widget. Users see only the search input and results. Enable this option when you do not want to expose tag-based filtering. When disabled, users can use tags to narrow search results.
