Embedded AI Assistant
Beyond the standalone Chat page, Riverbed Q (Q) can appear inline on other Riverbed IQ Ops pages so you can ask questions without switching tabs. The embedded assistant uses the same chat terms, sessions, and catalog commands as full-page Chat.
If you are new to AI chat in Riverbed IQ Ops, read How AI chat works and Models, data, and who pays for compute in Riverbed IQ Ops Chat first.
Where you will see it
-
Skill Editor: While you create or edit skills.
-
Agent Editor: While you create or edit agents.
What embedded Chat cannot do
Even when Q appears on the same page as a skill, agent, or runbook, Q is not context-aware yet. The assistant does not automatically understand the incident on your other monitor, the chart you selected, or the node highlighted in the editor. Tell Q what you are editing or trying to accomplish (skill name, agent goal, constraints) in the message box.
Riverbed is building richer platform context over time. For now, treat embedded Chat as convenient access to the same assistant, not as a mind reader for your UI state.
How embedded Chat differs from the Chat page
-
The conversation list is usually hidden so you stay focused on one thread for the task at hand.
-
You must still accept the Orion chat terms before the panel becomes available.
-
For search across sessions, transcripts, and a wider workspace, click Q in the left menu to open the Chat page.
AI-Generation disclaimer
When using Generative AI technologies to create and generate content, the target audience must be aware that the content is AI generated. We recommend adding a disclaimer to the output of the content generated using the GenAI node. For example, appending "AI-Generated content".
