Riverbed Edge

Riverbed Edge is a component of Riverbed IQ that you deploy in your network or in the cloud to act as the data broker between Riverbed IQ and other Riverbed Technology products that are deployed in your network (such as NetIM and NetProfiler).

Riverbed employs a shared responsibility model for Riverbed Edge that comprises a Riverbed-supplied Edge ISO image or cloud-init file that is deployed on top of a customer-supplied and managed virtual machine (VM).

This presents a shared-responsibility model in which:

  • Riverbed supplies Edge functionality as an ISO/cloud-init file.

  • Riverbed Edge runs on a VM that is: owned/maintained by the Customer and configured according to their specific processes and procedures.

The basic Riverbed Edge VM requirements are:

  • a host VM supplied by the customer.

    • a host VM running the validated version of Ubuntu Linux.

    • a host VM that provides the following minimum resources:

      • RAM: 16GB,

      • vCPU: 4 cores

      • Storage: 300GB.

Riverbed Edge supports deployment on the following virtual machine environments: AWS (via AMI), Azure (via VHD), and VMware ESXi (via OVA).
