Riverbed Edge
Riverbed Edge is a component of Riverbed IQ Ops that you deploy in your network or in the cloud to act as the data broker between Riverbed IQ Ops and other Riverbed Technology products that are deployed in your network (such as NetIM, NetProfiler and AppResponse).

The Riverbed Edge Shared Responsibility Model breaks-out responsibilities as follows:

Customer is responsible for ownership of underlying infrastructure in their environment, i.e.:

Facilities.

Virtualization layer.

Riverbed Edge can be run on the following types of Customer-owned/managed Virtual Machine (VM) environments: AWS via AMI, Azure via VHD, and ESXi via OVA (for requirements refer to Riverbed Edge VM Requirements)

Operating System (and associated security updates).

Riverbed Edge runs on Linux (Ubuntu - for requirements refer to Riverbed Edge VM Requirements)

Data access and management.

Network security controls (e.g. Firewall Rules configuration. Refer to Firewall Rules.)

Riverbed is responsible for supplying the Riverbed Edge functionality that is installed and configured on top of a Customer-supplied VM:

For VMWare ESXI, Riverbed provides a cloud-init NoCloud ISO image to configure Edge functionality.

For cloud-based VM’s (i.e. Azure and AWS), Riverbed provides cloud-init files to configure Edge functionality.
